Amazing song, guys! What's especially impressive is that you popped this out last second with less than a third of the time the rest of us had. I was also so happy when I heard Jordi singing even though that was very naughty of you.

Great work and good luck this round! :)

Haha, this is amazing, man. Feel like Pikachu could be a little louder in the mix, but giving an opinion on a silly song is kinda silly too! This is hilarious 5*

TSRBand responds:

Haha thanks for checking it out! You're right though shoulda cranked it up a bit more on Pikachu's mic :P

It blows me away that you're able to create something like this "last minute". Stunning as always, Jordi! :) Loved hearing the harp -- did you record it? Didn't expect the change around 2:35, but it was great. Your music creates images for me and that's special and not easy to do! Good luck <3

etherealwinds responds:

Well, I did make a start on it on the 9th but then I got bored and went on a night out lol. Came back on the 10th and worked non-stop til about 2am. Dunno where I found the motivation really, it sorta just unfolded as I was working on it. The harp is from a sample library I really enjoy using, Concert Sam Harp?? It's really easy to work with and means I don't have to get out of bed hahaha <3

Good luck to you too Dan!

Sounds like you an I had an almost identical experience with this round. I enjoyed my piece at the start but toward the end I really struggled to do any work on it and also submitted a piece that I wouldn't have otherwise would it not have been for the NGADM deadline.

That being said, this isn't as awful as you think it is. I think it has a lot of interesting parts! I doubt you're in the mood for any types of pointers or opinions after how you described your feelings toward this piece, but I feel that this has tons of potential to become maybe two or three different songs if you ever work up the energy to return to it.

Good luck this round.

Onefin responds:

if you gave me any pointers i would probably tell you that i would have fixed it had i enjoyed the piece :p

Great stuff as usual, FinnMK! I almost enjoy that it isn't as big as your songs usually are, but there are so many interesting things happening rhythmically that keep it interesting throughout. The sections that hit at 1:02 and 2:27 are my favourite parts of the song :) I also have a soft spot for songs that are short and sweet so I enjoyed this a lot. Good luck this round!

FinnMK responds:

Variety is the spice of music and life, for sure. Those sections are the 'choruses', though it's sorta hard to tell with this song structure haha. Looking forward to yours!

John showed me this piece before he knew who submitted it, but he suspected it was you. I was absolutely astounded by this piece and how perfectly it fit the theme. You'd be a formidable talent if you were 30 years old, but you're about half of that and it just blows me away that you're making this sort of thing at your age. Honestly, this is one of the best things I've ever heard on this site and the best piece I've heard coming out of a Chips compo by far. This piece is so good that you're making me feel quite inarticulate in trying to describe how impressed I am by it and how much I love it. Fantastic work and keep it up!

Miyolophone responds:

Thank you so much for the praise, Dan! Quite frankly, I wrote this when after being struck with a monstrous lightning bolt of inspiration (which doesn't happen often) so I'm somewhat concerned I'm not going to be able to live up to all this hype on Chips, but I'll do my best. I'm very happy that you were impressed!

Great to hear the podcast! I always enjoy these :) As usual, great voice, and FinnMK's music in the background was a nice touch!

@TaintedLogic -- I always pronounced it like Mack-Gorilla, but a lot of people seem to read it as "Em-Cee Gorilla" or "Mick Gorilla" like how Chrono said it. I really don't mind! You can call me Dan if that's easier. I see that Chrono mentioned this in his reply to you and yeah we did talk about it (a few people have asked for some reason).

ChronoNomad responds:

I know that you must be pretty busy with your Quarterfinals track and such, so thanks a bunch for taking the time to review my humble podcast! Glad to hear that you enjoyed listening to me ramble on about the NGADM yet again. :D

I've been taking all previous comments into consideration, so adding something big and exciting right from the start seems like the way to go, which is what brought me to Finn's magical air balloon of lavenderness. I'd really like to show all you talented musicians some love in the same way, but unless I make like an hour-long podcast, that's probably not going to be feasible...

So you say it like "Mack-Gorilla?" Just like Ewan MacGregor or MacGyver, but without the vowel. That I didn't know, but I'll certainly keep it in mind going forward! I think folks usually want to have a keen grasp of what someone's name, or in this case pseudonym, sounds like. Regardless of whether they'll ever actually say it out loud or not.

Welp, thanks again! Can't wait to hear what you and your fellow combatants come up with this round.

Wow. I did not expect this at all and the execution is absolutely flawless. It's not even a style of music I listen to but I'm really enjoying this and I'm incredibly impressed not only by the song, but your versatility. Fantastic work and good luck in the competition! :)

bassfiddlejones responds:

Thank you sir gorilla! We decided to go for it, haha. Totally uncharted territory

This is absolutely beautiful, Jordi. I'm so happy it came together. The lyrics are great and are also particular poignant in context, even though I'm not sure it's necessarily about a particular situation, but I'm sure everyone can relate to them. Wonderful work!

etherealwinds responds:

eeeek thank you, temporary competitor. haha you're so diplomatic with your wording, reminds me of me ^_~

I'm happy you liked it, and I'm actually happy you made a cameo in Grant and Ethan's track! Might be the only time we get the chance to face off each other!

I love this so much, John. It was such a pleasure and honour doing some work with you, especially on such an excellent track. I hadn't heard the bridge before and it's a wonderful touch. And that vocal chopping at the end was amazing! I want to get Ableton just so you can share this session with me because I feel like I could learn a bunch from what you did. Excellent work, I love this.

PS. I hear which line you wanted a second version of and I'll do it for you if you like when I get the chance :) Sorry I wasn't able to get to it. And sorry for saying sorry. Sory. Hemlo. Joooooordi

yOU MADE THIS TRACK COME TOGETHER

THE TRUE MVP

I make music. Some is electronic and some has guitars and pianos in it. I'm mainly focusing on game music at the moment.
Hope you enjoy what you find here!
